Introduction

Adipic acid is the most important aliphatic binary acid, and can conduct condensation reaction with poly-functional group compound, like HMD. Condensation reaction between adipic acid and HMD is utilized to produce “nylon 66” salt (AH Salt for short), which can be changed into “nylon 66” resin after further polycondensation reaction. Furthermore, it is practical to utilize reaction between adipic acid and alcohol to produce adipates, acting as plasticizers, synthetic lubricants, and polyester polyols etc.

Application

Adipic acid is a key raw material used in a broad range of applications, including the plastics, polyester, polyurethane, and textiles industry. It is used also as an intermediate for the synthesis of plasticizers, lubricant additives, coatings, and specialty additive applications.
