VAE Emulsion

(Vinyl-Acetate Ethylene Copolymer Emulsion)

Introduction

Vinyl acetate-ethylene emulsion (VAE) is a milky white, non-toxic, minimal odor, non-flammable/non-explosive emulsion that can be transported easily. Its main functions are to increase the adhesion, flexibility, and water resistance of the final product. The VAE emulsion can be applied to a wider range of substrates as compared to polyvinyl acetate. One of its noticeable applications is as the adhesive between PVC sheets and other substrates. In addition, VAE emulsion can be used as the adhesive for various types of plastic materials and porous substrates. Examples of such plastic materials include: polyvinylidene chloride, cellulose acetate, and polystyrene; examples of porous substrates include: paper, wood, woven materials, fiber board, and polyurethane foam. Furthermore, VAE emulsion is widely used in the construction industry as the adhesion enhancer and water-resistance enhancer of cement admixtures.

Application

(1) Adhesives: Furniture decoration: Excellent heat resistance, maximum adhesion strength, fast setting

Parquet: Fast setting, excellent heat resistance

Automotive industry: Excellent heat resistance, maximum adhesion strength

Paper and packaging board: Fast setting, excellent processing property

Non-woven materials: Excellent anti-aging property, low formaldehyde emission

Woodwork: Excellent bonding strength

(2) Paint and coating: Minimal odor, low volatile organic compound (VOC) emission, superior masking power, excellent scrub resistance, good filler and additive compatibility

(3) Construction & Building: Flexible, improved water resistance
